In certain conditions a liquid D.P.M. (damp proof membrane) will be applied prior to fitting, depending on the moisture level of the subfloor.
The solid board is solid timber all the way through, where as the engineered is constructed with a solid top layer and glued with cross ply underneath, giving it more stability and less chance of movement.
