Terrazzo has been used as a flooring product for hundreds of years.
Terrazzo tiles have stood the test of time and are used extensively in locations such as supermarkets, train stations, airports and shopping centres.
Terrazzo tiles have earned their enviable reputation due to their combination of durability, ease of maintenance, aesthetic appeal and performance.
A terrazzo tile is a composite of natural marble chippings set in a matrix of cement with a colour pigment added to it.
Customers can choose a vast range of different colour tiles or request bespoke tiles by using various combinations of the different pigments and aggregates that are available.
Natural stone is held in high regard because it has unique character, stability and grandeur.
It has an attraction that does not date and is always in vogue.
Stone comes in various formats and range from granite through marbles to lime/sandstone.
The diversity available is immense with a range of colours, textures and finishes now available at an affordable cost due to new improved quarrying, fabrication and transportation advances.
With such a range available and variation even within the stone blocks, it is important to select the correct stone for the purpose intended and establish the uniformity available within the tile/slab with set samples.
Ceramic tile finishes for wall and floor come in various types and a multitude of sizes.
However, they are all based on the use of clay, fired at high temperatures.
Finishes vary from roughened surfaces to highly decorative glaze and are commonly used in both interior and exterior locations.
Porcelain ceramics for use in heavy traffic areas are extremely durable, have a high resistance to chemical attack and are easily maintained with dirt and grime not penetrating into the near vitreous body of the tile.
Q Flooring Systems Ltd have a number of dedicated teams specialising in the installation of MMA resins for the retail sector.
The aesthetic capabilities of MMA resins allow accurate matching to terrazzo tiles, ceramic tiles and vinyl allowing customers to compliment pre-existing finishes or to create bespoke designs.
The system comprises of primer, bodycoat with flake broadcast into it followed by the seal coats Alternatively, for areas requiring slip resistance such as food production/preparation areas the system build up is the same but quartz aggregate is broadcast in the bodycoat to achieve the slip resistance required.
