The Antique Style Flooring Centre is a small independent family run company that has been established since 1985. My name is Chris Keseru and I am the sole proprietor. I started up running the business with the help of Margaret Thatcher's enterprise allowance scheme and started manufacturing concrete products, mainly paving and patio slabs with great success.
In 1996 after an informal chat with a builder friend over a pint down the local pub when we were discussing the scarcity and exorbitant price of reclaim floor pamments, (a Suffolk colloquial term for a floor tile) an idea came to mind to try and reproduce them in concrete.
Concrete is a versatile and durable product consisting of purely natural elements, including cement and comes from the Latin word "concretus" (meaning compact or condensed) and is used more than any other man-made material in the world, archaeological evidence has revealed that the Romans used cement, (a mixture of burnt lime, volcanic ash and crushed brick to obtain a hydraulic setting binder) to create concrete to produce tiled floors.

The advantage of using this type of product which is a composition of 6mm aggregate, sand and cement is that they can be used for both interior and exterior applications such as pathways and patio areas and also in conjunction with under floor heating as they are perfect, having exceptionally good heat absorption and retention properties.
It is highly recommended that these pamment tiles when used for indoor applications are sealed to avoid staining and to facilitate cleaning, it also enhances the shades of the high quality iron oxide pigments used to create a beautiful effect bringing out the full richness of the colours.

The best way to lay your pamments is on a flat screeded concrete surface with a rapid set floor tile adhesive using a 6mm notched trowel or float, remember to use a water proof one for showers, bathrooms and utility areas and a flexible one with under floor heating and also a flexible grout, cutting is straight forward utilising a angle grinder fitted with a diamond blade.
However if you do not feel confident to lay them yourself we can provide a service for this, free estimates available.
