This calculator works out the joists at 500mm centres and nails are added pick 47 x 100 or 47 x 150 both will do the job but 47 x 150 is recommended if you are raising the deck from ground level.

The decking is supplied in the lengths that suit your job, these are calculated as covering 150mm (145mm for the board and 5mm gap for expansion and contraction), any decks over the 5.4m long that are required are given in 4.8m lengths so there is as little joins as possible.
